Scientists and graduate students work up three turtles at the San Diego power plant. The warm water outflow keeps the turtles warm and allows them to feed year round. By not having to hibernate like other populations in colder water, they are able to grow four times faster than other populations of green turtles. Image taken under NMFS permit # 16803
