The Great White Shark Next Door // The Washington Post (2021)

Emily Sturgeon and Zach Merson re-deploy the Shark Lab's Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) after checking it for damage after a white shark breached onto it. The AUV is capable of 3D mapping temperature, depth, chlorophyll, turbidity, salinity, and dissolved oxygen in an attempt to identify the conditions at shark hotspots. Additionally, the AUV is equipped with an onboard hydrophone that allows them to detected tagged sharks.
