Surfing around the world contributes billions of dollars. In the U.S. alone Chad Nelsen of Surfrider calculated over $2 billion dollars is attributed to surfing. However, in Puerto Escondido that money does not contribute greatly to the boat community that has taken a large hit in recent years to declining fish stocks.
